The painted city - Mural Itinerary for Vitoria-Gasteiz

Definitely a different way to see the city! We visited Vitoria-Gasteiz with some friends and we discovered a painted city. The objective is to produce public works of art by bringing together professional artists and people from all walks of life. Based on a highly participative structure, murals are created on the facades of buildings, starting in the medieval quarter of Vitoria-Gasteiz and extending into new neighborhoods over time. The result is a street-level gallery where process and product share equal value.

Each mural has its own story, its meaning and its secrets. Each one was painted in workshop settings with collaboration from artists and non artists alike, neighbors and citizens of all ages, professions, nationalities, etc.

We admired these murals for hours, and I took one hundred pictures of them! Little S. and Little I. came back home delighted with this street level gallery in the heart of the city! Love you, Vitoria-Gasteiz!
